Lahing Kayumanggi Dance Company (Country Winner)
  • London, United Kingdom
The Philippines is known to have one of the most colorful culture, and this gives us pride as a people.  It gives us a clear sense of who we are and where we came from.  This is the driving force behind the Lahing Kayumanggi dance Company.

Lahing Kayumanggi is a cultural folk dance group specializing the promotion and preservation of Philippine culture through performances and workshop.  It arranges dance workshops at least twice a year and performs for various activities organized by the Philippine Embassy in United Kingdom and the Department of Tourism to promote the Philippines in various part of Europe.

Through its workshops and performances, young British-Filipinos are give the chance to reconnect to their native language and the culture of their parents.  Watching and learning from Lahing Kayumnaggi provides them a link to their rich culture.  Over the years, thousands of Filipinos and foreigners were awed and inspired by their performances, demonstrating the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines.  They dance “to preserve for posterity music and folk dances indigenous to the different regions of the Philippines.”

Aside from promoting awareness about the Philippine culture, they also help their members by establishing a welfare fund for them, especially to aid those who have financial needs.  They also encourage members to participate and excel in cultural and recreational activities.

Being far away from home did not stop members of Lahing Kayumanggi to express their love for their country.  This love tor their culture drives them to preserve it and keep it alive for future generations to enjoy.

Kapisanan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Italya - KAMPI-Italya (Country Finalist)
  • Bounarroti, Rome
As the acronym of the organization’s name suggest, KAMPI-Italya (Kapisanan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Italya), is an ally of overseas Filipino workers in Italy.  It provides assistance and information to Filipino migrant workers on legal and labor issues.  They also serve to inform the Filipino community in Rome of the different laws, rules, processes and rights in Italy, through the informative seminars that they hold periodically.

For more than 30 years, KAMPI-Italya has served Filipino migrant workers and it took pride in being “pro-worker.”  As the longest-running labor organization in Italy, it has gained the trust of many Filipinos.  This also ensures that it will continue its service to migrant workers for generations to come.  Their existence is proof that wherever we are, we can always count on fellow Filipino to lend a helping hand.

Associazione PILIPINAS-PFSPES (Country Finalist)
  • Rome, Italy
Filipino migrant workers make the great sacrifice of leaving their families to be able to earn a good living abroad.  But even their sacrifice sometimes does not meet the goal of being financially stable because of the Filipinos’ lack of proper training hon how to handle money.  This is the cycle that Associazione Filipinas-OFSPES would like to break.

Their main project called Leadership, Financial Literacy and Social Entrepreneurship Training Program for Migrant Workers in Italy (LSE) was geared towards educating Filipino migrant workers on managing their money and being able to make the most of what they earn as migrant workers.  Since it started, LSE was able to educate 350 migrant workers, from all ages and walks of life, about good investments and careful financial planning.  With its education program through LSE, Associazione Filipinas-OFSPES hope to eradicate poverty among migrant workers, letting them reap the benefits of working away from home.
